This means that the bar exam is the only licensure exam for professionals that is not regulated by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC).

This year’s exam marks the historic 122nd bar examination in the Philippines.

Release of Results & Oath-Taking Ceremonies

According to the Bar Chairperson and Supreme Court (SC) Associate Justice Mario Lopez, the results of the 2024 Bar Examinations will be released before the year ends.

“We anticipate releasing the Bar exam results by early December, tentatively. The oath-taking ceremony and signing of the Roll of Attorneys are already scheduled on January 24, 2025, marking the formal entry of new lawyers into the profession,” Lopez said in a press conference.

Why is the Philippine Bar Exam so difficult?

There are a number of reasons why the Philippine Bar Exam is so difficult. One reason is that the exam covers a wide range of legal topics. Examinees are expected to have a deep understanding of both substantive law and procedural law.

Another reason for the difficulty of the Bar Exam is the high passing percentage required. For the past several years, the passing percentage has been around 20%. This means that only one in five examinees passes the exam.

Finally, the Bar Exam is also challenging because of the time pressure. Examinees have eight hours to complete each day of the exam. This means that they must be able to think quickly and write clearly under pressure.
